The tragic nature of this case aside, I wanted to compliment Ms. Tucker on her writing, particularly the scenes of the crowds and family gathering in the courtroom before the hearing began. It was reminiscent of reporting back in the days of the Scopes trial and earlier times, when reporters really tried to "paint a picture" and capture the mood of the proceedings, rather than stick to a dry recitation of the facts. If I were to hazard a guess, I‘d venture Ms. Tucker received her training overseas, where this style of reporting seems to live on.
