    The comments below are short-sighted and miss the bigger picture. It‘s not so simple that one can simply become a citizen given our broken outdated immigration system so badly in need of meaningful comprehensive reform which has been held hostage by partisan interests.

    Irony defined. An illegal who wants to make other parties obey the law. Second to last paragraph says it all. If one student could take the effort to earn citizenship, they all should have made the effort.
