Need a real judge to explain the nuances of due process to a citizens group or guide an auditorium of teens down the straight and narrow? The Fulton County Superior Court can help.

The court has launched a Speakers Bureau initiative to provide judges, court administrators or staff members for events and speaking engagements.

"The Judicial Canons encourage judges to speak, write and educate the public on the law and the judicial branch of government and this is one way that we can fulfill that mission," said Judge Todd Markle, who chairs the court's External Relations Committee, in a statement announcing the project.

The bureau aims to provide speakers to community groups, schools, businesses and organization to discuss the courts, legal issues and the judicial system, it said.

"It is our hope that we can get our judges out into the community to explain the role of the Courts and help take the mystery out of the justice system," Markle said.

The Speakers Bureau website is accessible through the Fulton County Superior Court website at www.fultoncourt.org; click on the "Community Engagement" tab.
