Mark Harper, who served as chief clerk of the State Court of Fulton County for the last eight years, resigned Nov. 6.
I came to this court with the goal of changing careers and of eventually moving to the health sector, said Harper, who started as a senior court clerk in 1999.
It was time for me to pick up that goal again after 13 years, and I now have a job in the government health sector and have enrolled in a masters degree program for public health.
State Court Administrator Cicely Barber said that the chief clerks position is currently vacant.
When and how it will be filled will be determined by the State Court Judges at the appropriate time, wrote Barber in an email.
In the interim, documents filed with the court bear the imprimatur of Chief Deputy Clerk Angela Dash.
State Court Chief Judge Patsy Porter did not respond to a request for comment.
