DECATUR, Ga. (AP) - A suspended DeKalb County Board of Education member says he'll use his own money to fund a lawsuit against the governor.
Former board chairman Eugene Walker told WSB-TV he'll finance the lawsuit after board members Wednesday voted unanimously to have the board's name dropped from the case, which is now before the state Supreme Court.
Gov. Nathan Deal suspended six of nine school board members after an accreditation agency put the district on probation. Ousted board members filed a lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of a new law Deal used to remove the board members.
Newly appointed board member Joyce Morley says the group is concerned with the future of the school district and can't focus on the past.
