With a bill that would exempt from federal laws any firearms manufactured and retained in Georgia, a group of state lawmakers is taking aim this session at what they view as overreaching federal firearms regulations. Tommy Benton (above), R-Jefferson, is one of the main sponsors of House Bill 89, known as the Georgia Firearms Freedom Act, which seeks to exclude from federal regulation firearms made and retained in Georgia.
