More than half of the 75 lawyers who were nominated for the upcoming Georgia Court of Appeals vacancy have declined to be considered, according to the governor's Judicial Nominating Commission.
The JNC said 42 nominees either withdrew their names or did not submit their applications by the Nov. 19 deadline, leaving 33 remaining.
The JNC will pare down the remaining list to "a more manageable" 15 to 20 names prior to interviews on Dec. 12, co-chairman Randy Evans said.
After interviews, the JNC is expected to forward a short list of finalists to Governor Nathan Deal.
The list of remaining applicants may be found on atlawblog.com.
