TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) - Authorities say a man who plunged off an Alabama toll bridge into a river below could face charges and have to reimburse searchers who looked for his body after a video of the leap surfaced on YouTube.
The Tuscaloosa News reports that crews conducted an hours-long search Sunday night after a 911 caller reported seeing a man jump from the Black Warrior Parkway toll bridge that afternoon. Rescue agencies feared someone had committed suicide, and launched a massive search.
Authorities on Monday found a video posted to YouTube of the jump accompanied by music. It includes shots from the jumper's head-mounted camera.
Tuscaloosa County sheriff's Sgt. Andy Norris said that the department has asked the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to assist issuing a federal citation to the man.
